What a Difference
Friends Can Make
Through a combination of public and private support, the Haywood County Animal Shelter is able to support the needs of our community now and into the foreseeable future. Friends is proud to support the shelter through donations, volunteering and assisting with the day-to-day needs of the staff and facility.

About the Shelter
The shelter is centrally located in Haywood County with room for future growth and opportunities. Currently it supports the needs of our community through separate functional adoption areas and intakes, adoption lobby area, separate entrances and isolation rooms.
About the Friends
FHCAS supports the building and other needs for the Haywood County Animal Shelter to decrease the euthanasia rate and promote partnerships with other animal welfare organizations.

Make a Gift
There are many ways to give to the shelter, through either a general donation, or through an exclusive or personalized naming opportunity. By making an investment in Haywood County’s animal shelter, you’ll be investing in the local economy and providing animals and county residents with services they need.

Nyx is a great guy. As a volunteer I spend time with him weekly. He's sweet and lovable.
Looks like a Beagle. We rescued a beagle, she is so intelligent, asked to go outside, she sits and wait for me to get my coat and shoes on. She does have really bad anxiety, from her abuser. We are working on that. She loves to play and sleep. Anyone who adopts this guy be ready to laugh, mine has kept us going.
That’s a beautiful video💖praying his future owner is watching!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Is he still available? Is there any room for $ help in transport? Is he HW +? Age?

Thank you all so much for the inquiries about JP. We're happy to report, that JP was adopted, the day after a post was made. We have been contacted by multiple rescues about this one particular guy. JP was *one* of tons, that are in need. Every shelter and rescue are in need of adopters and/or fosters for these types of dogs. Reach out to them, help a dog become a dog again.
Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the update! I'm so happy for him. I cried so much seeing his despair in that picture. I hope he never knows another time like that and that all his days are filled with overwhelming love. ❤️
So happy some one adopted him.I adopted a lonely little girl from the shelter and she has given me so much love and still is she is a mix of chiwawa and fiest and great love
This is what a dog looks like after you have owned him for awhile and then decide you don’t want him anymore. A dog is a commitment to keep forever. Think about this picture when you go to give them up. So sad !!!
Couldn’t stop thinking of this dog, I’m so glad he was adopted ❤️ Would love to see pics of him happy 😊

Dogs and cats aren't the only animals we have at the shelter. We also from time to time, have small animals. Meet Matilda! She is a small guinea pig, female and looking for another female to be friends with. Guinea pigs are herd animals and need buddies. Matilda is all by herself and needs to be adopted to home where she has guinea pig friends.
