What a Difference
Friends Can Make
Through a combination of public and private support, the Haywood County Animal Shelter is able to support the needs of our community now and into the foreseeable future. Friends is proud to support the shelter through donations, volunteering and assisting with the day-to-day needs of the staff and facility.

About the Shelter
The shelter is centrally located in Haywood County with room for future growth and opportunities. Currently it supports the needs of our community through separate functional adoption areas and intakes, adoption lobby area, separate entrances and isolation rooms.
About the Friends
FHCAS supports the building and other needs for the Haywood County Animal Shelter to decrease the euthanasia rate and promote partnerships with other animal welfare organizations.

Make a Gift
There are many ways to give to the shelter, through either a general donation, or through an exclusive or personalized naming opportunity. By making an investment in Haywood County’s animal shelter, you’ll be investing in the local economy and providing animals and county residents with services they need.

A Special Note from Our Pet of the Week, Ted…
Hey Y’all, My name is TED.
I’m a pretty laid back, calm & cool Dude. I’m quite the photogenic gentleman. I have that dreamy look in my eyes…Which is just me dreaming of my furry-ever home.
My buddies at the Shelter who take care of me say I’m more than just GOOD LOOKS! They say I’m quite wonderful to hang out with (and, well…I kinda think they’re cool too!).
The Volunteers whisper and tell me what a DELIGHT I am to WALK on the Trail and I love spending time with these folks.
We have Play-yards here at the Shelter and oh boy…I do love to show them my Playful side and have a good Romp!
However, I love a good Nap. I like to snooze away and I ain’t even bothered by young lads & lassies barking near me.
I am SEARCHING for a lovable, calmer, lifelong buddy(ies) to hang with…The things we could do…Walk, Sleep, Eat, Sleep, Play, Sleep…and maybe a little ear rub every now and then (Have you seen my ears!)…
In case you couldn’t tell…I’m a tricolor Treeing Walker Coonhound and I’m about 7 years old…
I have been at the shelter since June 26, 2023.
Why don’t you holler at my Buds at the Shelter and come hang out with me and let’s chat awhile about how blissfully happy we’ll be together!
Just call (828) 456-5338 Ext. 2 or Stop by 453 Jones Cove Road in Clyde…They have this cool place where there are so many of us that are looking for our FOREVER person(s)!

**A Special Thank you to The Dog House of Waynesville for Providing Ted’s COOKIES for his photoshoot!
Hey, I got to hang out at Bethel Elementary … I heard the Music Class (and I sang with them!) and I got to Play on the Playground! Here’s a little bit about my Playmates!
Jennifer Roberson, DARE Officer & SRO at Bethel Elementary: I have been in law enforcement for 15 years and I came to HCSO in 2019. I have 2 boys (19 & 17). Unfortunately, we don’t have any pets, but I absolutely LOVE animals and cannot wait until I can have them! I am originally from Black Mountain, but moved to Haywood when I was 15 and graduated from Pisgah!
Misti Reece, HCAS Kennel Technician: I am the newest member of the TEAM at HCAS. I started at the end of August and I LOVE it so far. I was born and raised here in Haywood County and I have one son who is grown and out of the house. I still have my fur-babies…My 2 dogs, (Nala & Shiloh), & my cat Puss. I have always loved animals and I am so excited to be at the Shelter to help!

Great job with the explanation of Fostering.
My old iPad won’t let me contact you. We’d love to foster.
I work full time but would love to foster a cat who can handle a multi cat household
